We are asking for your views on the Warrington Council Draft Local Validation Checklist.

Since 2008 local planning authorities have been required to publish a list of information they require to “validate” the planning applications they receive. A validation list has 2 components:

  1. The national requirements, such as the application form, fee and certificates
  2. Specific local validation requirements known as the “Local List”

The Government requires local planning authorities to review the “local list” every 2 years. In addition, there continues to be a significant number of changes to planning legislation, policy and guidance and the Council will shortly be adopting its Local Plan 2021/22 – 2038/39. As a result an updated local validation checklist has been produced.

The Consultation Process

The proposed Local List is open to public consultation for a six week period:

From 21th November 2023 until 5pm on 05 January 2024.

After the consultation period, the Local Planning Authority will consider all the comments received and amend the Local List as appropriate. Once approved this will form the basis on which planning applications are deemed valid by the Warrington Council.
