Any married couple can renew their vows and celebrate their love and commitment to each another.
You may want to mark a special anniversary, such as your silver or ruby wedding. You may have married abroad and want to have another ceremony with your friends and family. You may have been through a period of difficulty, such as an illness, and want to renew your commitment to each other.
Whatever your reason, a renewal of vows is a wonderful ceremony and we can help to make sure it’s personal to you.
What happens at the ceremony
Each ceremony is unique, and you can decide what you want to include. You could:
- renew your promises to each other
- exchange new rings or gifts
- acknowledge your children
- ask your friends and family to make non-religious readings or share memories of your wedding day
- take photos and videos
The ceremony usually lasts about 20 to 30 minutes and will be led by one of our fantastic celebrants.
We’ll present you with a commemorative certificate, signed by you and the celebrant.
Where you can have the ceremony
You can have your renewal of vows at Warrington Register Office, at one of our approved venues, or at another venue of your choice – but you’ll have to ask our Superintendent Registrar for approval, so they can make sure it’s suitable.
